Mapuche Political Prisoners' Families speak out against seizure of Machi kultrun Valentina Contreras Hector Interview Caulle

families of Mapuche political prisoners, we declare our Pueblo Mapuche and national and international public opinion as follows:

- that yesterday a delegation from the Mapuche Ñancucheo Lumaco sector, led by Raiman machi Chehuan and Valentina Rosa Contreras Caulle visited our relatives, who have been on a hunger strike since 15 March. Upon entering prison in Angola, the delegation and especially our traditional authorities were registered in humiliating and violent stopping the Machi and seizing their kultrun, holding it for more than 2 hours before entering to visit our relatives, noting that the pods contained Kultrun bullet, resulting in an argument with gendarmerie, to which the villagers explained and justified the reason of this content, stating that it is part of our worldview.

- After these events, was authorized by the gendarmerie's income with kultrun Machi, but on the condition of being constantly monitored for 6 gendarmes. After this situation the Machi was released with a pending state case, with the delegation accompanying her to go look, since she was alone in these police stations.

- Under these abuses we condemn and reject the abusive and discriminatory act that Gendarmerie and PDI, have been used against our traditional authorities is a clear sign of persecution and intimidation of those who are committed to what they represent our families imprisoned and unjustly sentenced by the Chilean state, show their support and commitment.

- As we demand be returned as soon as the kultrun to our authority, because as Mapuche not allow such incidents occur or continue to occur, because they go against our people and it is essential today more than ever, to express our contempt for any actions aimed at violent and terrorizing our people, especially against our authorities ancestral, considering that this provocation will not go unpunished and indifference of our Pueblo Mapuche.
